Player Profile – Hayden Mathews
Hayden has represented NSW at junior and open level for a number of years.
At the 2012 Australian U17 Boys’ Championship, Hayden stood out as a player of the future when he won the Most Valuable Player award, and two years later was selected to represent Australia at the 2014 Junior Men’s World Championship in Canada.
Hayden dominated with the bat at the 2017 Australian Men’s Softball Championship, winning the Most Valuable Player and Best Batter awards and earning selection into the national team.
Hayden has been part of the Aussie Steelers squad since 2015 and made his international debut for Australia at the 2017 Challenge Cup in New Zealand where he played in the outfield and performed strongly in the batting box as leadoff hitter.
Following the 2017 World Championship Hayden will remain in North America to play for new International Softball Congress team, CanAm Twins.
