Re-Accreditation Requirements
MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Registered with Local/State Association or Softball Australia

Provide training history summary showing completion of required Sports Integrity education courses for Umpires, Technical Officials, Selectors & Scorers at a Community / Club level.
Note: courses are valid for 5 years from date of completion with the exception of Annual Update which must be recompleted each year.
- Provide copy of your state/territory Working with Children Check, or equivalent.

20 games of practical scoring within 4 years of the completion date of Level 1 accreditation or previous re-accreditation. Games can be undertaken with any level of team; on a regular basis (weekly, fortnightly) or in specific situations such as tournaments (number of games to be documented in your logbook)

Re-sit the level 1 assessment

Evidence of completion to be provided with your logbook

- 24 games of practical scoring within 4 years of the completion date of level 2 accreditation or previous re-accreditation
Games to be completed over a 4-year period on a regular basis (weekly, fortnightly) or in specific situations such as tournaments (number of games to be documented in your logbook)
- 1 additional game to be scored with a mentor holding a higher level of accreditation.

- 40 games of practical scoring within 4 years of the completion date of level 4 accreditation or previous re-accreditation
Games to be completed over a 4-year period on a regular basis (weekly, fortnightly) or in specific situations such as tournaments (number of games to be documented in your logbook)
If you wish to be deemed “Nationals Compliant” and used as an Official Scorer at a National event;
- 10 of the above mentioned 40 games of practical scoring must be scored in the 12 months prior to re-accreditation
- Complete one of the following two requirements:
- Official Statisticians at Softball Australia tournaments must demonstrate competency and hold a current pass in Quality Assurance Assessment through the NSC Quality Assurance Team.A minimum of 4 games must be scored, QA’d and deemed competent to meet this requirement.
- Statisticians who have not attended Softball Australia tournaments as an official scorer within the previous 4 years (or who have been assessed as non-compliant for national participation by QA assessment) are required to submit a colour copy of 2 games** undertaken within the twelve months prior to re-accreditation
Note: scorers may re-accredit without meeting the requirements to be Nationals compliant.These scorers are unable to be an official paper scorer at National Championships and other Softball Australia events.
Where a scorer has received a team appointment from Softball Australia, undertaken a role or carried out tasks for Softball Australia or the National Scoring Committee and have demonstrated the required competency and currency of The National Scoring Program, the NSC may use its discretion in relation to the above listed requirements.
** The two games required should be either 7 innings or the run ahead rule imposed.Across the two games, the following components must be demonstrated:
- High number of times on base (at least 1/4 of plate appearances)
- Pitching, batting, fielding changes (in both games)
- Use of pinch, designated or temporary runner
- Mixture of earned and unearned runs
- Sacrifices (bunt and/or fly)
Frequently Asked Questions
- Scorers must re-accredit every four years
- Scorers can update their accreditation by completing the next level of accreditation OR by achieving the total number of games required for updating relevant to the level
- Scorers must use the scoring logbook to validate their updating activities
- The scorer must forward the re-accreditation form and fee to their State/State Director of Scoring along with the required documentation listed on the re-accreditation form.
- An authorised official including scoring coordinator/representative, State Director or National Scoring Committee member has the right to assess/review the previous years’ scorebook and statistics prior to endorsement.
- Scorers accept the Softball Australia Officials Code of Conduct by signing the re-accreditation form
- New updating requirements commence immediately once re-registration is received
Softball Australia requires all accredited scorers to participate in a variety of education and practical scoring activities to maintain their accreditation status.
- Ensures accredited scorers keep up-to-date with current scoring techniques and methods
- Ensures accredited scorers stay abreast of rule changes
- Ensures the National Scoring Committee and State Scoring Directors have a current list of accredited scorers
- It is important that you record the details of all scoring related activities in your logbook.This includes practical involvement, attendance at approved courses and seminars and updating activities.
- When you attend or complete an approved activity, you should fill in the appropriate details.If you are completing your Logbook manually, your Logbook activity may be signed off by a scoring coordinator/representative, Association Secretary or State Director.If you are completing your Logbook electronically, no signature is required.
- The logbook will be used as a guide for your eligibility for re-accreditation when it falls due.
- You may wish to use the logbook as evidence of experience and ongoing education when you apply for a scoring position.

- If updating requirements are not completed within four years, you are given an additional twelve months to meet the re-accreditation guidelines
- If the additional twelve months has expired and you wish to re-accredit before twenty-four months from your date of expiry, you will be required to re-sit the level and all assessments
- If due to unforeseen circumstances, twenty-four months has passed since your expiry date, please contact the National Scoring Committee (NSC) via nsc@softball.org.au with details. The NSC will then provide options for re-accreditation
Re-accreditation Resources
Accredited scorers can log their scoring activities using the official National Scoring Logbook. The logbook is available in both PDF format, and as a Word document. Both formats are designed as a single A4 page in landscape orientation.
