Update to Under 14s Camp Venues and Schedule

Published Wed 19 Oct 2022

Softball Australia CEO Rosie Williams OBE has provided the following update regarding the 2023 summer camps for Under 14s:

We have been working hard on logistics and unfortunately the travel costs during the January period have increased significantly, where the amortised travel costs are reaching near $1500 in flights to attend the camp. Our philosophy is to ensure all players get a chance to be involved regardless of their financial circumstance, so we are changing our approach to support all softball families during a tough economic period. We will be bringing the camps and the amazing facilitators to the major cities during January and February. We acknowledge that players will miss out on competing against players from other states, however we must respond to the situation many families are facing.

To enable us to staff the camps we have allocated the below dates in early 2023, ordered by date:

QLD/NT : Friday 13 - Saturday 14 January
VIC/TAS: Monday 16 - Tuesday 17 January
SA: Saturday 21 - Sunday 22 January
NSW/ACT: Saturday 4 - Sunday 5 February
WA: Saturday 11 - Sunday 12 February

The two-day camps will be supplemented by online learning sessions, and two talented coaches from each state will be invited to observe.

For those participating in the Under 16 National Championships: clashes of schedule will not affect selection eligibility for the New Zealand tour. Selectors will be present at all events. We are going ahead with the Under 14 Regional Tournament in July that will be held in Queensland.

Venues and costs for camps will be announced as they become confirmed.
