Australia Pacific Cup Day 2 Results

The Travelodge Aussie Spirit battled through the Western Sydney heat to record one win and their first loss at Blacktown International Sportspark following day two of the Australia Pacific Cup.

Japan remains undefeated at the Australia Pacific Cup, the 2018 champions chalking up another two victories today.

In their opening game against Italy, Japan took a two-run lead in the bottom of the first inning, a lead pitcher Yamato Fujita was successfully able to defend for a 2-0 win.

They then quickly took down New Zealand with eight unanswered runs in five innings to secure their spot at the top of the Australia Pacific Cup table.

The Travelodge Aussie Spirit opened their account on Friday with a 5-1 score line over Chinese Taipei, Shannon Keevers, Chelsea Forkin, Jade Wall, Taylah Tsitsikronis and Brooke Spence amongst the runs.

In their second game against Mexico, the Travelodge Aussie Spirit took a 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning, the visitors rallied right back tipping in three runs in the top of the sixth.

Australia answered back with Wall crossing again to bridge the gap to a single run, the pitching of Ellen Roberts gave the Spirit a chance to steal the win after dismissing Mexico in the top of the seventh, however Australia were unable to respond and went down 3-2.

The Australia A side narrowly lost both games today, 3-2 against Chinese Taipei and 4-3 to Mexico.
