Scoring Accreditation

The accreditation pathway comprises of four levels that focus on the technical competency teaching all components of scoring in an effort to better educate scorers and provide a guided pathway for advancement.
In addition to these four levels, the National Scoring Committee offers a level 5 course aimed at allowing statisticians to advance their scoring careers to the elite level of scoring, statistics and technology. Recognition for international appointments is provided through the award of level 6.
Accreditation Pathway
Duration
Approximately 4 hours.
Target audience
Parents, teachers and other beginners with no or little prior scoring experience.
Overview
Level 1 Scoring is designed to introduce participants to the basics of scoring required for entry-level competition, including school and junior level softball. There are no prerequisites to complete the course. Candidates are required to achieve a 75% pass mark on the written exam. Candidates will also perform a practical simulation and assessors will review the performance and provide advice and assistance as required.

Target audience
Club and association scorers if have obtained their Level 1 accreditation.
Overview
Level 2 provides the scorer with the knowledge to perform the duties of a club or association scorer while advancing their skill in scoring. Scorers wishing to sit this course and exam must have successfully attained their Level 1 scoring accreditation. Candidates will be required to score one regulation game with sufficient elements to demonstrate the ability of the candidate.

Senior club and affiliate scorers who have obtained their Level 2 accreditation.
Overview
Scorers wishing to sit the Level 3 course and exam must have successfully attained their Level 2 scoring accreditation. Candidates will be required to complete bench lists for the teams and to competently score one 7 innings A Grade standard regulation game.

Approximately 16 hours.
Target audience
State and national level scorers who have obtained Level 3 accreditation, and scored successfully at that level for at least twelve months.
Overview
Level 4 accreditation is a requirement for acting as an official statistician at Australian National Fastpitch Championships. The assessment involves completing the extensions for a pre-scored game, followed by scoring two regulation 7 inning games, with compilation of all extensions and statistics. Examination games are assessed by the NSC marking sub-committee.
