Aussie Spirit Sets Sights on World Games with Japan Tour Preparation

Published Wed 04 Jun 2025

There are 1,136 days to go until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, and Softball Australia is excited to announce a significant step in the journey: the Aussie Spirit Tour to Ota City, Japan, set to take place from 28 June to 6 July 2025.

This tour is a crucial component of the team’s preparation for the benchmark event of the World Games in China, taking place from 13–17 August 2025, offering valuable international experience and playing a pivotal role in the squad’s long-term Olympic qualification campaign ahead of LA 2028.

Led by Head Coach Kerrie Porter, the tour will feature a 22-athlete squad, comprising a blend of experienced players and emerging talent, reflecting both the depth of the current group and the future direction of the national program.

"The Japan tour to Ota City is a tremendous opportunity for the Spirit squad to compete against high-quality professional JD League teams. The games and training will provide athletes and staff opportunities to be challenged, develop, learn, and grow in preparation for The World Games to be held in China in August," says Porter.
