Published Mon 13 Sep 2021

Kaia Parnaby and Stacey Porter have maintained their undefeated record in Division 2 of the Japan Softball League with SG Galaxy Holdings over the weekend, while Ellen Roberts made a spirited return to Division 1 for Minamo Ogaki.

Following an 8-0 loss to Toyota Red Terriers on Saturday, Roberts was called upon to the circle for the first time in the JSL in 2021 for Minamo’s second game of week six against Shionogi Pharmaceutical Popon Gals on Sunday.

Prior to the opening pitch, Roberts was recognised for her Olympic campaign with a short presentation from the JSL before getting to her work.

The 29-year-old was impressive starting for Minamo and held the Popon Gals scoreless through six innings as her company took a 2-0 lead into the final frame.

Roberts was denied the win following a number of errors from the Minamo defence which eventually led to a 4-2 scoreline in favour of Shionogi to close out the weekend.

In Division 2, Porter and Parnaby kept SG Holdings Galaxy Stars perfect record in tact to lead the tournament with eight wins.

A three-run homerun from Porter handed SG Holdings a 4-1 win over Takagi Kitakyushu on Saturday followed by a triumphant return to the second half of the season from Parnaby who kept Seiko in check on Sunday defeating them 6-1.
