Published Wed 23 Aug 2023

After a ISC career spanning two decades Australian softballer Andrew Kirkpatrick has called time and game on his illustrious career finishing with a remarkable 5th ISC World Tournament victory playing for his team of 10 years New York Gremlins.

Kirkpatrick first tasted victory in 2005 with County Materials and followed this up with a back to back win in 2006 again with the powerful County Materials line up playing alongside fellow Australians Kris Kiefel and Jeff Goolagong.

Playing for New York Gremlins for the past decade he has formed the foundation of the Gremlins program resulting in no less than 3 ISC World Tournament victories in 2018 , 2019 and 2023.

Bob Harrow opened the door for Cheese to enter the ISC circuit back in 2003 where he spent his days building chicken coops during the week and playing softball on the weekend in Milverton Ontario.

Softball Australia Hall of Fame Member Michael Titheradge paid tribute to Andrew's career: “Andrew has left his mark on the sport across all corners of the globe and it is no surprise that success followed him wherever he went and for whichever team he played for over many years playing at the elite level. He is a credit to his family and will be forever remembered as one of the best team mates ever to all of those who have had the privilege of playing alongside him . He will go down as one of the best dual threat players in the history of the game being such a powerful pitcher & feared batter and his career can be matched up against any player in any era. Congratulations Cheese and thank you for your contribution to the sport of Softball on so many levels. Your legacy will live on for many generations to come.”
