Softball Australia is calling for expressions of interest for multiple Team Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions for the upcoming 2023 Canada Cup invitational tournament.

Softball Australia is planning to send female pathways teams to the 2023 Canada Cup; an Australia A team, and up to two age-group teams. This opportunity will give international exposure to players in our womens’ Elite Player Development and Talent Development squads ahead of upcoming events such as the 2024 WBSC World Cup Finals, while also contributing to their long-term development for potential Olympic campaigns.  

Important Dates and Requirements

Canada Cup tour dates: July 6-18 2023, Canada

Athlete Development Camp: Coaches selected for the positions will also be expected to attend either the ‘Accelerate’ (15th – 18th April 2023) or ‘Futures’ (17th – 20th April 2023) athlete development camp at the Australian Institute of Sport, depending on which team for Canada Cup they are assigned to. 

The ideal candidates for this position will:

• Be skilled in communicating with young athletes to support them with their development
• Work well within a team of coaches and support staff 
• Be curious to learn and keen to improve their own coaching 
• Prioritise long-term development of an athlete over short-term outcomes 
• Have experience coaching young athletes at a national championships level or higher

This is a volunteer position, however travel, accommodation and uniform costs for the coaches will be covered by Softball Australia.

Coaches will be selected by a panel that includes:

• Clare Humberstone, Softball Australia National Pathways Manager 
• Laing Harrow, Head performance and pathways coach 
• Geoff Coultas, Mentor coach for the tour to Canada Cup
