Aussie Spirit to compete in 2026 USA Softball International Cup
Published Mon 30 Mar 2026
The Aussie Spirit will travel to Oklahoma City, the competition venue for softball at the 2028 LA Olympics, to compete in the 2026 USA Softball International Cup.
Games will be played from July 31 to August 4, 2026, at Devon Park in Oklahoma, with the event returning after a seven-year hiatus. The last edition took place in Columbus, Georgia, before the tournament was paused in 2019.
The competition features a strong international field, including American Samoa, Australia, Canada, China, Japan, and two USA Softball Player Pool teams. Nations will play each other once in a round‑robin format, with the top two advancing to a winner‑take‑all championship game.
This will be the second time in 2026 that the Spirit face the USA and Japan, following the USA Down Under tournament at Redlands Softball Association and the Softball Australia Cup at Brisbane Softball Association. Those matchups provided valuable benchmarks for the Australian squad, which showed clear growth across the summer.
Aussie Spirit Head Coach Kerrie Porter says the event marks another important step in the team’s long‑term preparation.
“The Aussie Spirit are excited to be back competing at the USA Softball International Cup. We’ve built a strong history in this tournament, so we’re looking forward to getting out there and testing ourselves again.”
“The Summer of Softball was a fantastic opportunity to take on the world's best on home soil. We took a lot out of those tournaments and will continue to carry those learnings into the USA Softball International Tournament and competing in the 2027 Women’s World Cup Finals in Redcliffe, Australia.”
Devon Park will also host softball at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, giving the Spirit an early chance to familiarise themselves with the venue.
“Devon Park is a fantastic facility, and the USA Softball International Cup gives our Aussie Spirit a great opportunity to familiarise ourselves with the fields and get comfortable with playing world-class softball,” Porter said.
