Aussie Spirit Ready To Rock At The Home Of LA Olympics

The Aussie Spirit have touched down in Oklahoma City ahead of the 2026 International Cup at Devon Park, the home of softball for the LA 2028 Olympics. 

The tournament features four of the world’s top 10 teams: No. 1 Japan, No. 2 USA, No. 4 Canada, No.5 Chinese Taipei as well as China, American Samoa. 

Games will be played from July 31 to August 4, 2026, at Devon Park in Oklahoma, with the event returning after a seven-year hiatus. The last edition took place in Columbus, Georgia, before the tournament was paused in 2019. 

Nations will be divided into two groups and play each other once in a round‑robin format, with the top two advancing to a winner‑take‑all championship game.  

This will be the second time in 2026 that the Spirit face USA and Japan, following the USA Down Under tournament in Redlands, Queensland and the Softball Australia Cup at Downey Park, Queensland.  

Aussie Spirit Head Coach Kerrie Porter says the event marks another important step in the team’s long‑term preparation.  

“The Aussie Spirit are excited to be back competing at the USA Softball International Cup. We’re looking forward to getting out there and testing ourselves again with a different combination of players, Porter said. 

 "We took a lot out of those tournaments and will continue to carry those learnings into the USA Softball International Tournament and competing in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027 in Redcliffe, Australia.” 

“Devon Park is a world-class facility, and the USA Softball International Cup gives our Aussie Spirit a great opportunity to familiarise ourselves with the Olympic venue ahead of LA28 qualification.”
