Aussie Spirit go down to Canada

Two 3 run innings for Canada proved the difference today as the Aussies strand seven runners on base. 

In a great start to the game, the Aussie Spirit scored first in a crucial match up against Canada.  

Canada hit back straight away with a 3 run first inning and followed up with anothh 3 run inning in the 2nd.

Gabbie Plain, making her Olympic Games debut contained the Canadian bats for the remainder of the game, but missed opportunities for the Aussies were costly. 

Canada outhit Australia 8 hits to 6 and the Australians committed two defensive errors. 

Aussie Spirit did go down swinging, losing 7-1. The Aussies are still in the medal hunt and will look for some great performances in the next game.  Next opponent is the USA at 11am (AEST) on Sunday where the Aussies will need a good outing as they look to face Mexico for a potential medal spot on Tuesday.
