Athletes invited to help shape the future of softball
Published Wed 28 Oct 2026
Softball Australia is calling for Expressions of Interest for the inaugural Softball Australia Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAAC), giving current and recently retired athletes a formal voice in the future of the sport.
Established in 2026, the Committee will provide a direct channel for athlete feedback on matters that impact high performance and pathway programs, helping ensure athlete perspectives are considered in key decisions across the sport.
The Committee will advise Softball Australia on issues including athlete wellbeing, team culture, selection processes, program guidelines, athlete education, leadership development and pathway opportunities.
Sarah Loh, Chief Executive Officer of Softball Australia, said the Committee reflects the organisation's commitment to ensuring athletes are represented in the decisions that shape the sport.
"Our athletes bring valuable experience and insight, and it's important they have a genuine opportunity to contribute to the future direction of softball in Australia," said Sarah Loh.
"The Athlete Advisory Committee will create a formal pathway for athlete feedback and help us ensure athlete perspectives are considered as we continue to strengthen our high performance and pathway programs."
Softball Australia is seeking applications from current athletes aged 15 and over, as well as recently retired athletes who have represented Australia at any age-group or senior level within the past five years. No previous committee experience is required.
The Committee will consist of a Chair, Secretary and up to six additional members and will meet at least quarterly. Members will also have access to leadership and professional development opportunities.
Softball Australia is committed to establishing a committee that reflects the diversity of the athlete community, including representation across genders, pathways and Australian states and territories.
