Call For Applications – National Pathway Program Assistant/Specialist Coaches

Softball Australia is excited to announce the opening of applications for Assistant/Specialist Coach positions withing our National Pathways Program. We are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable individuals to contribute to the development and success of various teams and squads within the Softball Australia Pathways. 

The Assistant/Specialist Coach provides critical support to the Head Coach, players and support staff during camps and competitions. We have Assistant/Specialist Coach roles available across a number of programs including; the U-18 Women’s World Cup team, the U-19 Women’s program, U-18 Men’s development program, and U-16 women’s program.

Each of these roles is for a 12-month period (one year), with a possibility of extending or movement to other squads within the National Program.
The roles are described in more detail in the Assistant/Specialist Coach job description , but are slightly different in terms of time commitment and skills/experience of the candidates required

U-18 Women’s World Cup Assistant Coaches: The role will be a key aspect of the U-18 Women’s World Cup team and will involve domestic camps and international travel during 2024. The appointed coaches will work closely with the recently announced Head Coach, Leigh Godfrey, and lead battery coach, Lyneene Orsini, to develop and implement training programs, providing technical and tactical guidance to players preparing for and competing at the U-18 Women's World Cup. The role will collaborate with other coaching staff to optimise the team’s performance

U-19 Women’s Program Assistant Coaches: Contribute to the coaching staff for the U-19 Women's Program, including domestic camps and support player development and preparation for the WBSC U-18 Women's World Cup. Collaborate with Head Coach, Leigh Godfrey, and fellow coaches to foster an encouraging development culture

U-18 Men’s Development Program Coaches: Play a key role in the development of young male athletes in the U-18 Men's Development Camp, which will most likely take place in early October 2024. Provide coaching support during domestic training to enhance player skills and teamwork and collaborate with other coaches to create a positive and effective training environment.

U-16 women’s Program Coaches: The coaches will contribute to the U-16 Women's Program, focusing on athlete development through an athlete development camp which will most likely take place in early July 2024. Provide coaching support to young players, emphasizing skill improvement and teamwork. This will be a collaborative effort with other coaching staff to ensure a foundation of development within the U-16 program.

We are looking for people who possess:  

  • Proven coaching experience in softball, with a strong understanding of the game.
  • Ability to provide effective technical and tactical guidance to players of varying age groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with coaching staff and players.
  • Excellent communication skills to contribute to a positive and high-performance culture.
