Up and coming U17 stars set for U23 challenge

Softball Australia is pleased to announce a team of 16 players in the U17 Australian Boys team who will compete in this year’s U23 National Championships at Redlands from 7-13 July.

The move to the U23 National Championship is in an effort for the developing team to compete against a high level of competition in preparation for the U18 Softball World Cup to take place in 2020.

“If we want to arrive as competitors in the World Cup then we’ve got to play as much softball as we can against quality opposition, playing against the U23’s is going to be a great test of our current squad,” said Head Coach of the U17 Boys team, Geoff Coultas.

“It’ll be a great opportunity for the boys to get used to pitches that will be coming that little bit faster and also facing batters with a bit more power, similar to what we can expect on the international stage.”

The 2020 U18 Softball World Cup will be held in Palmerston North, New Zealand from 22 February – 1 March.

Congratulations to the following players.
