Trans-Tasman talent on show at Friendship Series

We are now just over a month away from the annual International Friendship Series in Sydney, as teams for the event have now been confirmed in our male and female competitions.

The 2016 series will see 16 teams descend upon Blacktown International Sportspark for five days of high-standard junior softball in a round-robin format. This year we will see five teams (two male, three female) travelling from New Zealand, including the Softball New Zealand Emerging Sox – the Under 17 male and female national development squads.

There will also be players from across Australia competing, with club, regional and state teams coming from Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales.

Australia’s own junior development male and female squads will make up four of the teams in this year’s competition as they have done in previous years. Our 30-strong Junior Aussie Spirit squad, vying for selection at the 2017 Junior Women’s world championships, makes up the Aussie Green and Gold female teams, while their Green and Gold male counterparts are a development Australian boys’ squad earmarked with future national team potential.

The International Friendship Series, to be contested from July 4-8, is one of the premier junior softball events in the country. With the inclusion of some of the teams, this year promises to be another well-contested series.
