Star New South Wales pitcher Gabbie Plain made history for her Washington University Huskies over the weekend, becoming their first player to ever pitch back-to-back no-hitters in the program’s history.
Playing at home for the first time this season in the annual Husky Classic, the Washington based NCAA team completed a shutout in front of their home fans, winning all six games and not allowing a single run against them.

Plain put the exclamation mark on the weekend backing up her second career no-hitter against Northern Illinois, and the 40th in Washington’s history, with another in her very next game defeating Seattle.
Against Northern Illinois, Plain became the 11th Husky ever with multiple no-hitters, setting a new career high with 15 strikeouts while allowing only three baserunners, all via walk.
The sophomore also threw a perfect game last season, against Utah.
Plain retired 12 straight batters between a walk in the second and a walk in the sixth. She would record five 1-2-3 innings, including striking out the side in the third. Only one runner reached third all game against Plain.
Her second no-hitter for the weekend, and third in her collegiate career, saw her become the first Husky in program history to record back-to-back no-hitters as she blanked Seattle U in a 1-0 Washington win.
Plain carried a perfect game into the seventh inning before allowing a walk with two outs, Seattle’s only baserunner all game.
Plain was dominant from the first pitch, retiring the first 20 batters she faced in the game. The sophomore struck out 10 batters and let only four balls reach the outfield the entire day, all resulting in easy flyouts.
Plain is part of the 2019 Travelodge Aussie Spirit squad and while she won’t be attending this week’s training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, is still well in the frame to represent her country at the upcoming Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualifier in Shanghai this coming September.
