New Softball Batter Up website launched

7 August 2012

Softball Australia is very pleased to announce that the new Softball Batter Up website has been launched.  The website link is www.softballbatterup.com.au.

Softball Batter Up is a national program designed to introduce participants to the fundamental skills of Softball through a variety of activities and games to develop physical fitness, social skills and an understanding of the game of Softball. A feature of the program is its flexibility in relation to when and how it is delivered. The eight one hour sessions can be run prior to junior Softball games each week, condensed into pre-season, as a school holiday program, on weekends or any time during the year. The program is divided into four modified base stages – First Base, Second Base, Third Base and Home Run. Each stage provides an appropriate learning environment for a range of ages and abilities, helping maximise enjoyment and encourage a lifelong participation in the sport.

Features of the new website include:

  • Four sections – Kids, Parents, Providers, Coaches
  • Online seamless registration process for providers and participants, where you can also order nationally approved Softball Batter Up equipment, including provider equipment
  • Features for the kids with fun activities, videos, puzzles and the new initiative, the Batter’s Box.  Batter’s Box will be an area where the kids can exchange thoughts about their favourite Softball experience, post their colouring pages and enter competitions.
  • Parents can find out all they need to know about the program, including finding their nearest Provider, registering their child and getting information on how they can help
  • A Coaches page – everything you need to know to become a great Softball Batter Up Coach is here! You can find additional resources, useful links and information about the new Softball Community Coach program.

The launch of the new Softball Batter Up website marks a major milestone for the program. Softball Australia will continue to work with all Member States to implement the program across Australia. We will also be working hard to add more value to the program, working on a school-specific manual, as well as getting endorsement that our national junior participation program is inclusive. This will be simultaneous to a concerted promotional effort by Softball Australia to raise the awareness of the program across Australia.

If you have any questions, feedback or comments on the program or the website, please don’t hesitate to contact Joanne Paez on 03 9417 0022 or on [email protected].
