Queensland has completed the U23 Nationals double winning both the Laing Harrow and Joyce Lester Shields at Redlands Softball Association.
After qualifying for the Men’s Final earlier, Queensland would meet NSW again as they attempted to win another consecutive title.
They had defeated NSW to qualify for the final in a 9-2 scoreline and weren’t too troubled by their traditional rivals in the Final.
Queensland won 5-0 Sheldon Waller, Brock Finlay, Brandon Goffer, Keenan Smith and Jourdyn Hollands all contributed to the run total highlighted by Hollands’ homerun.
Hollands was awarded Player of the Grand Final for his heroics.
Men’s Tournament Awards
Best Pitcher – Matthew Beach, NSW
Best Batter – Ethan Field, Aus U17
MVP – Izack Rossi, NSW
In a carbon copy of the Men’s draw, the Queensland Women’s team also defeated NSW in the qualifier (3-2) and again met their traditional rivals and defending champions in the Final.
The hometown team prevailed in another tight affair 3-1 to complete the maroon whitewash of the tournament.
Rebecca McEachern was judged best on diamond in the Grand Final.
