Playing overseas
Aussie Sparks is not a Softball Australia program. Softball Australia supports Aussie Sparks as a pathway to develop young athletes and enhance their Softball experience.
For players who have the ability, character, and desire, the Aussie Sparks can provide a solid pathway to travel overseas and play at the next level.
Since 2009, the Aussie Sparks have travelled to the United States, Japan, and Taiwan to engage in high performance training and play in tournaments at the U20, U17, and U15 age levels. International training partners include San Jose State University in California, the Sagawa Express Japanese professional team, and the Chicago White Sox (MLB) Academy.
Australian-based coaches involved in the program include Jodie Bowering, Vicki Bingley, Jenny Cassidy, Annette Fidge, Joyce Lester, David Stivey, Brooke Wilkins and Fabian Barlow. Rob Novotny serves as program director.
