Additional Athletes Added to 2018 Open Women’s Squad

Softball Australia would like to congratulate the seven additional athletes who have today been officially added to the 2018 Open Women’s Squad.  Following some good performances at both the Gilley’s Shield and the Asia Pacific Cup in Sydney, the additional players will make up a final list of 30 athletes in this year’s squad.

Tabitha Callander (WA)

Madeline Cameron (SA)

Shannon Keevers (NSW)

Verity Long-Droppert (WA)

Chelsea Robinson (SA)

Vanessa Stokes (ACT)

Stacey Webber (Qld)

In what has been identified as the most important year for softball in Australia as we look toward the 2018 World Championships and 2020 Olympic Qualification, the squad will ensure depth in a variety of positions.

“The Asia Pacific Cup provided extra opportunity for players to show us what they were capable of, particularly against some first class international competition”, said Head Coach Fabian Barlow.  “We’re excited that we have a strong list of 30 players to select from when it comes to the 2018 World Championships and also the upcoming NPF season”.

Unfortunately, Georgia Casey (NSW) has had to withdraw from the squad.
